Eichhornia crassipes - Common water hyacinth

continental : During the bitter months water from time to time, moistening the soil every 2-3 weeks with 1,2 litres of water, avoiding to wet the substratum too much. Let’s water only during the milder days, when the temperatures are very low it is best to avoid irrigating.

alpine : The soil should be kept dry, slightly dampening it every 3-4 weeks, or less, using 0,2 litres of water. If the weather is very harsh, with night frostings, it is best to avoid watering.

mediterranean : Avoid watering too much; typically watering every 1-2 weeks with 2,2 litres of water or less is enough; as the weather gets colder, the plant will need less water; we suggest interrupting watering during the coldest weeks.

continental : These plants need, for a balanced development, to be grown in a sunny place.
Avoid temperatures before 10-15°C; during the winter it’s best to move these plants in the apartment.

alpine : Plant which needs to be exposed to direct sunrays.
We advise cultivating the the Eichhornia crassipes in the apartment because it can’t stand the cold; it needs minimum temperatures above 12-15°C.

mediterranean : We advise locating these plants where they can be directly exposed to solar rays.
The Eichhornia crassipes can’t stand the cold, therefore during the winter months it is placed in the apartment, with minimum temperatures above 15°C.
